The Brief
A private domestic client in Northumberland approached Stellex with a brief to design and manufacture a high-quality outdoor kitchen and bar that combined contemporary aesthetics with robust construction suitable for year-round outdoor use. The finished installation needed to offer practical cooking and storage facilities while remaining visually impressive as the centrepiece of the client’s garden.
Design & Materials
The bar was designed around premium materials chosen for both durability and visual impact. The worktop was manufactured from Neolith Iron Corten, a stone surface that provides distinctive orange-rust tones and subtle metallic highlights, giving the bar a bold industrial appearance.
Beneath the stone top, the cupboards were constructed entirely from stainless steel, ensuring a highly durable structure capable of withstanding outdoor conditions. To soften the aesthetic and improve longevity, all cupboard doors and panels were finished with a grey powder-coated coating. This protective finish provides a hard-wearing surface that not only enhances the visual appearance but also delivers long-term hygiene and corrosion protection.
Integrated Features
Attention to detail was central to the design. The bar incorporates a number of concealed elements that maintain the clean visual lines of the installation while providing practical functionality:
- Hidden induction cooker integrated beneath the Neolith stone worktop
- Concealed lighting built into the bar units to provide subtle evening illumination
- Stainless steel storage drawers designed specifically to store charcoal and logs
These carefully integrated features allow the bar to function as a fully capable outdoor cooking and preparation station without compromising its sleek appearance.
Complete Outdoor Entertainment Space
Although the core bar structure and stainless-steel fabrication were designed and manufactured by Stellex, the wider outdoor space was planned as a cohesive entertainment area. The pergola structure and the barbecue equipment positioned on the counters complement the installation and can all be supplied by Stellex.
