Laing’s Box Fitness Boxing Gym
Stellex has successfully completed the design, manufacture, and installation of a new boxing fitness gym, marking the first venture of its kind for this new client. The gym stands out due to its unique and innovative construction, catering to the specific needs of a diverse range of customers while ensuring minimal disruption to its surrounding environment.
One of the standout features is the custom frame designed to support heavy bags. Given the weight of these bags, the frame had to be exceptionally strong. We utilized a powder-coated finish on the frame, enhancing its durability and making it easier to clean. The powder coating also ensures the frame maintains a sleek appearance over time.
The installation posed a challenge due to the gym’s low ceiling height of just 2.2 meters. This required the use of special brackets to properly secure the equipment. The gym’s location within a multi-use building necessitated a design that was completely self-supporting. The frame was not fastened to the ceiling or walls to prevent vibrations and noise from affecting other tenants and offices above or adjacent to the gym.
The limited access to the installation site meant that the frame components had to be delivered in sections and assembled on-site. Despite these logistical challenges, we completed the entire installation in just three days, demonstrating our efficiency and expertise.
Our design also considered the gym’s operational needs. The layout allows for the easy swapping of different types of bags, accommodating beginner, intermediate, and experienced customers. This flexibility is essential for offering a variety of classes and one-on-one sessions. The inclusion of a sparring boxing ring, though not industry-sized, provides a realistic experience and maximises the use of available space, cleverly incorporating two existing structural posts.
During the design process, a lot of care had to be given to the layout of the gym so as to maintain an open and airy atmosphere within rooms with low ceilings. The flooring also had great consideration with a heavy-duty rubber-tile being used that not only enhances the gym’s aesthetics, but also offers a practical solution for shock absorption and noise reduction.
This new boxing fitness gym, exemplifies our ability to design and manufacture a tailored solution to the specific needs of a multi-use building and a diverse clientele. The project’s success also shows our capability in delivering high-quality, customised fitness installations.
